Beginning Basic Obedience Class
This class is commonly referred to as "Puppy Kindergarten." It is
a 6 week course for the dog (regardless of age) and owner who need to
learn the fundamentals of K-9 behavior & Basic Obedience.
|
 |
A new class starts about every 8 weeks. They are normally conducted on
Sunday afternoons from 4 to 5pm.
We cover quite a bit of information and how it relates to issues with
our dogs. This helps to better understand how to approach housebreaking,
manners, and behavioral problems as we incorporate obedience commands of
heel - sit - stay - come when called - report to front - finish and
return to heel position - down - re-sit - and stand. There is a
graduation on the 6th lesson with a certificate.
Advanced Obedience and Agility Class
This class is for those who’ve attended the Beginning Basic
Obedience Class, or those having completed enough training on their own
dog, that wish to continue in their dog’s education and performance
levels. We have people and dog teams who are just starting at the
advanced levels to those who have already accomplished titles, and all
in between. Class is usually taught on Sunday evenings.
This class focuses on; off-leash work - precision heeling - distance -
distractions - jumping - retrieving - and agility work.
In-Kennel Obedience Training
Although our classes are well attended, and successful, we understand
that not everyone has the time or desire to attend classes. Some clients
even prefer that we train the dog for them, and many have brought their
2nd and 3rd dog for in-kennel training.
This is a 3 week program in which your dog stays with us during the
entire training process. It allows us to continually re-enforce the
dog’s training on a daily basis for 21 straight days, which imprints
good habits. During you dog’s stay we work on several exercises:
- How to be approached without jumping
on people.
- How to accept being touched and
petted while maintaining composure.
- How to walk on leash comfortably
without pulling.
- All basic obedience commands; heel -
sit - stay - come when called - report to front - finish and return to
heel position - down - re-sit - and stand.
